Terrestrial Islands upon an Ocean of Light ....

Making allowance for 'time-cones' relating to the 'firing-up' of new
star-light, it could justifiably be argued that matrix of all star-light
present in the cosmos may be seen to be an "Ocean of Light".

The exception, rather than the rule, are small outcrops of "matter" which
I would prefer be called Terrestrial Islands (until such time as the
first 'Non-Terrestrial Island' is located/advertised/made-known.)

Thus, rather than this absurd "vacuum of space" which has pre-occupied
the mind of theoretical physics for some time now, the nature of the
cosmic field need be investigated in much the same way as the early
tentative mariners of Old Earth would have approached the charting and
the sailing over, of the ancient Terrestrial Seas.

That the universe is filled with visible star-light can be sensibly
conceived by a simple thought experiment. Walk outside at night and look
at the stars. Take a small step in any direction and look again ....

Integrate the visible starlight received at every conceivable "eye-ball"
location throughout the cosmos ... and you have alot of visible light
flowing around the place.

Add to this the non-visible components of the EMR spectrum and you have
the Ocean at every place in the cosmos. Sure there may be odd
reflections, refractions, standing wave patterns and maybe even the
occassional whirl-pool, but all in all the nature of the cosmos would
appear to resemble an Ocean of light in which are scattered, in remote
and far-flung locations, terrestrial islands of non-light substance.

Anyone up to pulling the plug on this one?
