Hymns of Thayumanavar

"To end the difference of I and thou
Is the blissful state of mindless trance."
Thus did the Lord of Arunai *[1] speak.
Why doth thou not listen to it, oh, heart?
Thou appeared and dragged me hither and thither
Unto the washerman who beats and beats
My clothes to exhaustion, threadbare,
For the layer of dirt to remove.
