Sri Aurobindo was born on August 15, 1872, and was educated at a christian convent in Darjeeling until, at the age of seven, along with his two brothers, he was sent to England - a period which to last for fourteen years - to obtain a "British Education". The last five years of his education were spent at St. Paul's College. The suppression of his Indian roots began to emerge during his late teens, and along with many of his countrymen in England, he vowed to work towards the liberation of his native country and its independence. Aurobindo returned to India in 1893, and a new phase of his life commenced.

In the remaining years of his life (until 1950) Aurobindo was to unwavering pursue the path to Oneness, which he called Integral Yoga, yoga of the earth, and on his journey he recorded his experiences and insights - a total of twenty-nine volumes.

The work which this web publication presents is - as outlined by its collator, P.B. Saint-Hillaire, in the introductory chapter - an overview of three of the major literary works of Sri Aurobindo ... The Life Divine, The Human Cycle and The Synthesis of Yoga".

It is hoped that there will be many opportunities for the global internet community to browse these introductory writings which may preface an individual journey and search for the truly valuable information at the commencement of the Age of Information - for it may well prove to be an Inner Age ...
