This Old-Timer wants to talk with others who care about keeping the original universal Native American spiritual beliefs alive, the way they were before the eclectic genocidal effects of mixing our original spiritual philosophies with foreign man-god religions and cultures. What I am speaking of is the Great Mystery, the way our people once simply accepted the sacredness that surrounds us. A time before we reduced the great and most marvelous mystery to "The Creator", or "Man Above". I meet a lot of Native people these days who think of themselves as traditionalists, yet are either Christian or Muslim. These same people foolishly call the white man spiritually bankrupt without ever taking the time to look into the mirror of their own reality. Is this not the pot calling the kettle black? This Old-Timer thinks that the non-Indian who seeks Earth/Nature spirituality by trying to learn of our Native people's original spiritual beliefs are true allies of our sacred Mother, the Earth. Nothing stands separate from Nature lest it be the technological creations of humankind, which along with massive overpopulation, shall be the undoing of us all. This Old-Timer thinks it would be a good time for the Rapture to take all the god-fearing ones away up to some cloud where they can all strum a harp and leave our cherished Mother, the Earth, the opportunity to be free from the overwhelming selfishness, greed, and irresponsibility of the non-caring human ones.

There is much to be said about the mother earth and the elements of nature which are bounteously given for the enjoyment of life. Earth supplies our living need for food. Water for our thirst, and air for our breath. We would not go too far without these terrestrial elements of living nature. Neither would we go too far if - for a moment - we forgot that it is the cosmic fire of the sun and its sunshine which makes the living plants and trees grow, and which gives light and heat to the terrestrial ecosystems, and which lifts up the waters, and brings rain with the winds, to the lands of the earth, our planet. There is a great deal to be said for the simplicity by which the indigenous spirituality embraces the foundational elements of life and of nature. We are custodians of the land, not owners, buyers or sellers. Every human being is indigenous to the terrestrial environment, itself eternally interfaced to the environment of the cosmos. - An undated observation of the mountain man And I think the technolgical and materialistic blindness grew from the loss of reverence for the simple elements of nature - which are in themselves the elements of life. Not just human life, but all living beings on earth. Scientific discoveries around and after Newton replaced the teaching of the four elements of nature, with the analysis of the states of matter - solid, liquid, gas (and eventually plasma), and there was no life in these teachings. But life goes on. How are the signs of Spring?
